Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance
•Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.
•Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with fire safety regulations.
•Audit & Inspections: Lead and manage compliance audits and inspections, ensuring any identified non-compliance issues are promptly addressed.
•Manage new product introduction in line with business growth strategy. This will be a critical element as the product profile of the fire solutions business is grown to meet its growth plan.
•Manage prices with suppliers to maximize value for money and minimize cost creep. Ensure a proactive relationship with suppliers to ensure costs are managed.
•Provide product quality and supply continuity assurance in relation to fire service /fire equipment as per SANS / SABS specifications as well as international quality accreditation. Show demonstrable experience in this element.
•Ensure that all products meet the required certification requirements by various applicable regulatory bodies and that all applicable permits are secured and kept up to date.
•Take up and resolve problematic supply chain issues escalated by the Business Unit and ensure long term preventive measures are implemented through elimination of root causes.
•Identify and escalate supply chain risks and suggest mitigating actions to ensure project deadlines are met
•Conduct / accompany SABS auditor to ensure compliance of fire factory / product and maintenance of our permits annually – both for Fire Products and powder facilities
•Ensure communication between company and suppliers is professionally conducted.
•Complete and present all relevant product and manufacturing information / impact for sign off.
•Product quality assurance function
2. Internal Business Flow Management
•Process Integration: Integrate compliance requirements into internal business processes, ensuring seamless alignment across the organization.
•Workflow Optimization: Review and optimize workflows to embed compliance controls, enhancing operational efficiency while maintaining compliance standards.
•Training & Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on compliance requirements, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
3. Strategic Compliance Management
•Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
•Industry Compliance: Stay updated on changes in fire safety regulations and industry standards, and ensure the organization remains compliant.
•Regulatory Strategy: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to proactively manage compliance, minimizing risk and ensuring regulatory alignment.
4. Health & Safety Compliance
•Health & Safety Oversight: Serve as the health and safety individual, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
•Safety Protocols: Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Requirements:
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor€™s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
•10+ years of experience in a compliance or regulatory role, preferably within the fire safety or emergency services industry.
•Experience in fire product knowledge (10+ years) and understanding of SAQCC, SANS, SABS, and ASIB codes.
Technical Skills:
•Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and industry standards.
•Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Soft Skills:
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capability to influence and drive compliance initiatives.
•High attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing regulatory requirements.
