We are a corporation that achieve business goals through IT projects that translate customer needs into solutions, products, services, and profits.  We require a database administrator to complement our team, assisting the team to realize goals efficiently and effectively.

The database administrator’s primary objective is to assist the team by performing day-to-day DBA tasks; including database backups, database restores, enhance efficiency of the databases and processes, security, data analysis, data extraction and aid developers.  Maintain data integrity and availability of databases.  Design and implement database changes according to best practises and the change control process. 

As a strong Database Administrator, you will have a solid understanding of databases and related work experience.  Mobile application knowledge and experience will be an advantage.  You will be responsible to assist with gathering of business requirements, design, development, testing and implementation of the company's database technology. Own transport essential as travelling between data centres will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Day-to-day DBA tasks,
    • Backups, restores, enhance efficiency of the databases and processes, database maintenance, security, data analysis, data extraction and assist developers
  • Maintain data integrity and availability of databases;
  • Database design and implement database changes according to best practises and the change control for both processes of new/improved features,
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient and reliable SQL code and processes
  • Windows event log analysis and propose/implement improved solutions
  • SQL Server error log analysis and propose/implement improved solutions
  • Setup and maintenance of SSRS reports and SSIS packages
  • Regular communication with other members involved in the process
  • Participate as a team member in fully agile Scrum deliveries
  • Provide support to end users

Core Requirements;

  • 10+ Years Database Administrator (DBA) experience
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Proven experience with database design
  • Working experience with Relational Databases, specifically SQL HA
  • Data Archiving

Characteristics;

  • Virtuous written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills,
  • Good understanding of database engineering concepts, and possibilities,
  • The ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis from a technology perspective,
  • Business case development,
  • Modeling techniques and methods,
  • Leadership skills

Education;

  • Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
  • Database Administration diploma and or certification
  • Efficient in Microsoft office (word, excel, outlook, etc.)
